The NABU detective was dismissed for unethical behavior and involvement with a witness in the case

A detective of the Main Department of Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has been dismissed following a disciplinary proceeding. This decision was made by the NABU director after reviewing complaints about the employee’s unethical behavior, particularly regarding relations with a witness in a criminal case.

During the investigation, it was established that the detective violated several norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the Disciplinary Statute of the Internal Affairs Bodies, and the NABU Code of Professional Ethics. His actions contradicted the requirements of integrity, impartiality, and professional conduct, which made further service in the Bureau impossible.

During the disciplinary review, the employee provided contradictory explanations, did not cooperate with the commission, tried to hide the violations, and unjustifiably classified his own explanations. This created obstacles for the disciplinary commission’s work, particularly limiting access to materials for the representative of the Public Control Council.

In connection with the incident, the NABU director is initiating amendments to the Code of Professional Ethics of the Bureau employee—to clearly regulate responsibility for actions that complicate or block internal investigations.

NABU emphasizes that all employees are required to adhere to high standards of ethical and professional behavior.
