Ukraine imports more gas from the EU, but 70% is potentially of Russian origin

In June, Ukraine imported 535 million cubic meters of gas from the EU, 70% of which possibly has Russian origin (from Hungary and Slovakia).

It is worth noting that the average daily volume of gas imports from the EU in June increased by approximately 10% compared to May.

However, this increase occurred through supplies from Slovakia and Hungary, where the Russian resource predominates. Meanwhile, imports of non-Russian origin gas from Poland have decreased.

Ukraine has repeatedly called on EU countries to stop importing Russian energy resources, yet it continues to increase its own purchases of them.

The total natural gas shortage for the upcoming winter is about 3.5 billion cubic meters.
