The new Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko stated that the government acted within the current legislation during the consideration of the appointment of the head of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES).

She said this in a comment to "Ekonomichna Pravda".

"Regarding the BES procedure — it was executed in accordance with laws and regulatory acts," emphasized Svyrydenko.

According to her, the Cabinet of Ministers was presented with the relevant decision, and every member of the government had the opportunity to make their own decision: abstain, support, or reject, considering the provided information.

"Everyone voted according to the information that was announced by the ministers on issues of European integration and justice regarding the possible connections of the candidate with the aggressor country," explained the Prime Minister.

Earlier, there was a scandal surrounding the competition for the position of the head of the BES, associated with the government’s refusal to approve the candidate selected by the competition commission.
