Sweden expressed concern about the restriction of independence of NABU and SAPO

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to the restrictions on the independence of the anti-corruption bodies – the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) – in Ukraine.

This was written by the country’s foreign policy department on the social media platform X.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the law adopted in Ukraine yesterday "raises serious concerns about the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions."

"Over the past decade, Ukraine has made significant progress in fighting corruption, and it is extremely important not to retreat from the chosen course," emphasized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.

However, Sweden assured: the country remains a reliable partner of Ukraine in implementing reforms.
