By the end of the year, Ukraine plans to adopt an industrial strategy and sign an agreement with Canada on geological exploration. These steps will serve as a signal to the private sector and pave the way for significant investments in critical sectors of the economy.

This was stated by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko.

Svyrydenko expressed gratitude to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for supporting Ukraine and for the symbolic visit on Independence Day.

"Our priority is to maintain macro-financial stability. To achieve this, we must prepare a new multi-year program with the IMF this fall, which will take into account the realities of war and defense needs," she emphasized.

The Prime Minister noted that the true indicator of effective security guarantees is the willingness of businesses to invest.

"Ukraine is open to capital: the priority is attracting FDI and developing critical supply chains. Ukraine needs 1–2 landmark agreements that will serve as a signal to the private sector, particularly in the areas of LNG, gas infrastructure, or the development of new deposits," Svyrydenko added.

As the Prime Minister stressed, by the end of the year, the government plans to adopt an industrial strategy and sign an agreement on geological exploration with Canada in the fall.

At the same time, Svyrydenko reported that during the meeting with Carney, she urged Canada to extend war risk insurance to investments, as France and Poland do, and to consider a G2G agreement to support companies investing in reconstruction.

She also invited participation in the Ukraine Mine Action Conference in Tokyo and Rebuild Ukraine, where joint projects could be announced.

The issue of support for veterans was also discussed separately.

"Ukraine, together with Canada, is developing mental health programs and working on mobile complexes for prosthetics. We agreed with Canadian partners to develop veteran spaces in the regions," she reported.

Svyrydenko did not forget to raise the issue of sanctions pressure on Russia.

"Sanctions have already cost Russia over 160 billion dollars. But this is not enough—the aggressor continues to produce missiles and drones. We called for increased pressure: coordination among partners makes sanctions truly effective," the Prime Minister explained.
