The Head of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi announced the commencement of an audit in the bureau. In particular, he noted that it involves the analysis of the portfolio of criminal cases handled by the Bureau of Economic Security. According to him, the purpose of this process is to focus on quality rather than quantity - that is, to deal with cases whose investigation could bring real benefits to the country.

"For me, it’s important not to investigate 100 cases that go unnoticed. Let there be 5, 10 – but those that allow for changes in certain infrastructure or systems where there are significant violations. ... We will come to the point where pre-trial investigations are conducted in the most prioritized areas with the most problems," said Tsyvinskyi at the event "Ukraine as a brand Made in Ukraine".

At the same time, he emphasized: the work on analyzing cases must be extensive. Therefore, it is currently difficult to determine the timeline for its completion.

"The analysis is conducted in a quality manner. ... We don’t rush the employees," assured Tsyvinskyi.

Earlier, he reported that to ensure the effective functioning of the BES, it is necessary to create a "renewed, strong, and honest professional team." Without this, according to him, the bureau "will not be able to provide what society, partners, and the government expect in the longer term."

He also emphasized: for this purpose, a number of commissions will be established within the agency. Specifically:

  • Disciplinary.
  • Certification.
  • Recruitment.

The head of BES also promised that the audit of the agency’s employees would affect almost all its staff.
