ORF demands the release of a Ukrainian operator mobilized in the Ternopil region

The Austrian broadcaster ORF is appealing to the Ukrainian authorities to release their operator, a Ukrainian citizen, who was detained and taken to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre (TRC) in the Ternopil region while he was on his way to film on assignment for the broadcaster.

Andriy Neposyedov’s wife notes that he voluntarily joined the army at the start of the war, was injured in Sievierodonetsk, and was discharged from service.

He was heading to the village of Sadove for filming the reburial of victims of the Volyn tragedy when he was detained.

He is not allowed to meet with a lawyer, and he has been in the TRC for several days. Initially, the TRC management denied Neposedov’s presence with them but later admitted it. The TRC claims the reason for the detention is the absence of his military records, though his wife claims the documents were provided.

He is being asked to undergo a military medical commission in the Ternopil region, but he agrees to do it only at his place of registration.

The ORF broadcaster has already sought assistance from the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Austrian embassy in Kyiv.
