President of Ukraine: Trump must make Putin afraid

The United States must put stronger pressure on the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and impose a powerful package of sanctions against Russia.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as reported by Sky News.

Zelenskyy also called on the US leader to take "decisive personal measures" to "stop Putin," after Donald Trump urged NATO allies to stop buying Russian oil and impose tariffs on China to pressure Moscow.

"I believe that the US is strong enough to make independent decisions. I believe that Donald Trump can provide us with air defense systems in the required quantity, and the US has enough of them," he said.

The President is also confident that the US can apply enough sanctions to harm the Russian economy, and Trump has enough power to make Putin fear.

"Europe has already introduced 18 packages of sanctions against Russia. And now, only a powerful package of sanctions from the US is missing," Zelenskyy said.

The head of state added that during the recent Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, Mr. Trump "gave a lot to Putin," and he is convinced that "he should have paid more for it."

"I believe that if it had been a trilateral meeting (with the participation of Ukraine, - ed.), we would have achieved some result," Zelenskyy added.
