Strike on the Armed Forces of Ukraine training ground: General Drapatyi responded and announced an inspection
The Russian army launched a strike on a range where Ukrainian military personnel were present. Currently, a thorough investigation is being conducted and all circumstances of the incident are being established.
This information became known from a statement by Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi.
Background
On the eve, media reports spread about an enemy strike during the assembly of the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the "Novomoskovsk" training ground in the Samarskyi district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Specifically, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that the range was hit by the "Iskander-M" missile system.
At that time, the Ukrainian command did not confirm the information about the strike and had not reported any injuries.
Drapatyi’s Statement
"The tragedy at the range is a horrific result of the enemy strike. The war requires swift decisions, responsibility, and new safety standards; otherwise, we lose more than we gain," he wrote, thereby confirming the strike on the range.
At the same time, he did not disclose details about the location of the tragedy or the number of dead and injured. According to him, an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy is currently underway, and he is personally overseeing every step to establish everything second by second.
"I waited for the first data to avoid making unsubstantiated claims, and now I must warn: everyone who made decisions that day, and everyone who failed to make them in time, will all be held accountable. No one will hide behind explanations or formal reports," the Commander of the Ground Forces reported.
He stated that he has already appointed an independent investigation with the participation of military counterintelligence, ensuring that no detail is overlooked and that those responsible are named and cannot "justify themselves."
"I will demand the harshest punishment. Those who, years into the war, continue to perform their duties negligently and formally, who drag the military into outdated procedures, ignoring their safety, those who assert themselves not in battle but by humiliating subordinates — all of them disgrace the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he wrote.
Statement of the Ground Forces
As reported by the Ground Forces, on March 1, one of their units became the target of an enemy rocket strike.
Unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries as a result of the strike. However, the numbers are not being disclosed.
"The Command and personnel of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine extend deep condolences to the relatives and acquaintances of the servicemen who died as a result of this rocket strike," said the report.
According to the Ground Forces, a thorough investigation is currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the event. The military law enforcement service and law enforcement agencies are being provided with all necessary information to ensure maximum transparency of the investigation.
"We remind you that Russian occupiers conduct not only missile attacks but also information and psychological operations. We urge all citizens and media representatives not to succumb to enemy manipulations and not to spread unverified information," the statement concluded.
