The HACC sentenced the former deputy head of the Sumy police and a lawyer for bribery

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) found former deputy head of the investigative department of the police in Sumy region Roman Shevchenko and lawyer Yevhen Rudnyev guilty of receiving 5,000 US dollars in illegal benefits.

Roman Shevchenko was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies and those related to the execution of organizational and administrative functions as a representative of the authorities for a period of 3 years, as well as the confiscation of all property owned.

Lawyer Yevhen Rudnyev received 6 years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to practice law for a period of 3 years and the confiscation of all property.

The court’s verdict will come into force 30 days after its announcement if it is not appealed in the appellate procedure.
