Explosion at a gas station in Zhytomyr: traffic on the Kyiv — Chop highway is blocked

The Zhytomyr City Council has officially confirmed the explosion at a gas station that occurred on July 2.

Videos from the scene have already appeared on the internet — the footage shows cars engulfed in flames and residential buildings near the gas station.

In connection with the emergency, the police announced the complete closure of traffic on the 126 km of the M-06 Kyiv – Chop highway, near the village of Berezyna.

Detour schemes:

• In the direction of Rivne: detour from 109 km (turn to the village of Tesnivka) through the villages of Holovyne and Chernyakhiv.

• In the direction of Kyiv: detour via 128 km (near the village of Hadzynka) or from 140 km (interchange near the village of Oliivka) — in both cases through Chernyakhiv, Holovyne, and Tesnivka, exiting at 109 km of the route.

Details regarding the cause of the explosion, the number of casualties, and the extent of the damage are currently being clarified. Emergency services are working at the scene.
